For weeks now there has been an ongoing attack on Tesla products and dealerships because of the hatred toward Elon Musk.
The News reported yet another attack on a personally owned Tesla parked in a parking lot. A man on a four-wheeler was videoed ramming a it with his ATV.
Our society has the markers of decay and degeneration that will lead to its destruction. For several years now, there has been a growing epidemic of disdain for civil law in our nation.
The levels of hatred and the lack of care for others are growing at a dangerous rate; it has led to vandalizing personal property, public buildings, historic monuments, and even murder.
These kinds of lawless activities have a lot in common with the social events that were going on in society before the Great Flood.
Lets take a look at Genesis 6:12
“And God saw the earth, and behold it had become corrupted, for all flesh had corrupted its way on the earth”.
The Hebrew for “way of the earth” is, ‘derech eretz’, which is also translated as ‘way of the land’.
Before the Flood there was a proper way that society conducted itself on the earth. This ‘way’ became corrupted which lead to the degeneration and collapse of the whole society, which then lead to violent robbery.
The breakdown in social responsibility is one of the causes for societal decline. Social responsibility is a system of ethics where individuals, businesses and organizations are held accountable for their actions. When this system breaks down, it impacts all levels of a society; civic virtue begins to crumble, ethical behavior and commitment for the common good is soon replaced with Individuals and organizations putting their own interest above the common good of others and community.
The Prohibition of Theft
The subject of theft is very broad; it touches a wide array of situations a person, organization, or business could find themselves in.
One segment of the prohibition of theft that is not widely understood is in the realm of ‘injury and damages’ to another person or property. One of the details of ‘damages’ is the damage to another’s money, be it an individual, business, or organization.
Vandalism: Willful or malicious damage or destruction of the property of another. (The American Heritage Dictionary)
Vandalism is a form of violent robbery it causes damage to another person’s money.
Those who have vandalized Tesla dealerships, individually owned Tesla vehicles and charging stations are guilty of robbery in the form of damaging another person’s money.
A key factor in all of this is not only the lack of but the non-existent love or care for other human beings and the Creator Who made mankind.
The Sages of Israel teaches us that the love of ones fellow should motivate them to protect the person and their property.
Every person regardless of race, nationality, religious or political views is created in the image of the Creator, thus how we treat one another is how we treat the image of the Creator in that person.
So, vandalizing another persons property is also vandalizing the Creator’s property as He owns everything and grants ownership of various materials to each person.
“Willful or malicious damage or destruction of the property of another”, is a crime of violent robbery, that causes a financial loss to the person, business or organization.
When we really take a close look at what was going on with the generation of the Flood, we find that within our society today, we are experiencing many of the same markers of societal decline.
Think about it.

Ramban on Gen. 6:2 explains why the Generation of the Flood was punished specifically because of theft, even though they violated all their commandments, because theft is a logical prohibition that no one can negate by saying, “we did not know we were commanded.”
Agreed, he also said that there was no need to send a Prophet for the same reason. In examining the book of Jonah, we see this being understood. It was not the Prophet who told Nineveh to put away the robbery in their hands, it was the kings decree to the people.
